Schedule games

Saturday 14 May 2005This is over 19 years old. Be careful.

Jeff Atwood provides a handy table of contents to Johanna Rothman’s Schedule Games, a series of blog postings about a dozen different ways to do the wrong thing when scheduling a project. *Sigh* I wish these weren’t so familiar...

Amen, Ned.
Way too familiar...just about every damn one of them. It's the main reason why I need a career change.

I've been working on software projects for darn near 30-years. I've worked at startups, small companies, big companies, huge companies, for the defense department, for the almighty $, sometimes just for the heck of it.

Nobody knows how to schedule a software project, and no one has any idea how to monitor a software project to figure out where it is....

Damien has the answer. We have to all get cushy offices, surround ourselves with people just as smart as we are, and then tell management just how we are going to build the product and just how long it is going to take.

The end result will be awesome.

I am not sure, but I think Damien is deep frying confections as his major source of income these days :-)

Yep. I read this post and the "classic mistakes" post by McConell. WAY too familiar.

Deep fried confections are going to be huge!

And someone must write the software that runs my empire. You shall all have cushy offices, free fried snacks and your own personal Oompa Loompas in my IT funshops.
