Virtual street reality

Saturday 23 July 2005This is 19 years old. Be careful.

Virtual Street Reality are Julian Beever’s sidewalk chalk drawings. They’re meticulously drawn to be seen from a particular angle, providing startling illusions of giant objects sittings on the street. How he can manage this, and then see it all gone, I don’t know. There’s are more of them, too.

That coke bottle is amazing- difficult to fathom it drawn flat along the surface he sits. When he's dipping his foot into the pool, his left foot must be farther back than appears but it doesn't look that much smaller than his right foot.
