Flash click to view

Wednesday 11 June 2003This is more than 21 years old. Be careful.

If you are using Mozilla Firebird, you want to go install Flash Click to View, an oddly named, but marvelously effective extension. It only does one thing, but it does it beautifully. It replaces all Flash content with an empty box that says “flash [[Click to play]]”. Of course, clicking the box plays the Flash. This extension plus the menu pick “Block images from this server” together mean that I see virtually no ads. Bliss.

SWEET. I didn't realize how much of that crap I hate was actually flash and not (that 90's technology) animated gifs.

I finally got that stupid google toolbar to install too, while I was there. My Firebird experience is not yet up to the ease that I had shaped my IE experience, but it is getting there...

Lots more good stuff on that page too! Thanks for reminding me of the link Ned ;-)

You should check out Mozilla Firebird Help (http://texturizer.net/firebird) and also take a look at their tips and tricks (http://texturizer.net/firebird/tips.html) which includes blocking almost every ad known to mankind (http://texturizer.net/firebird/adblock.html).

Glad to hear you liked it! I really ought to sit down and finish off the new version, it's much prettier.
